THE WICKENBURG SUN THE WEEK OF APRIL 16, 2003

R.P. "Bobwire" Bellerue, 75, was born Dec. 13, 1927 and left this life April 10, 2003.

He is survived by sister, Jeanette (Rock); two sons, Dave and Ric; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and an infinite number of friends who miss him greatly.

"Wire" was a complex and colorful man with life credits too many to detail. He grew up in the ranch life of Kingman, Ariz. where he mastered the cowboy style that would punctuate his distinctive personality. As a teen he enlisted in the armed services and emerged two wars later a decorated, U.S. Marine Veteran.

Saddle-weary and looking for something different, he later came to Scottsdale, got a SAG card, and gave acting a go. His quick wit, caricature looks and timbral voice put him in movies, a TV series, and a host of national commercials. And, long time Scottsdale residents will most fondly recall him as "The Rainmaker" at Rawhide. One of his favorite feats of later years was to ride with the Hashknife Pony Express - an accomplishment of which he was most proud.

Five years ago he returned to the ranch life he loved in Wickenburg. A true individual, this man - this opera lovin', Shakespeare quotin', storytellin' cowboy - this man with the big hat and Cheshire cat grin. Bobwire leaves us a legacy of laughter and tears, of friendship and love, and indelible memories for those who were fortunate to have had him as a part of their life. Share the memories with family and friends at a "Wire Remembered" celebration held at The Rancher's Bar, in Wickenburg, Saturday, April 19th, from 1 to 4 p.m.
