Jack Vaughn Penrod

Jack Vaughn Penrod, 76, of Show Low, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

He was born November 5, 1932, at Show Low the son of Flauris and Grace (Riddle) Penrod. He was raised and attended school in Show Low and was a lifelong Arizona resident.

He was married to the former Lucy Apodaca on November 5, 1983, at Show Low. He had a very varied work career having been a cowboy, logger, meat cutter and feed lot operator.

He enjoyed roping, his grandchildren and the Phoenix Suns.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy; five daughters, Brenda Bastin (Tommy) of Elko, Nevada, Sammie Finch (Gary) of Eager, Tiger Villa (Robert) of Queen Creek, Katie Wells (Harley) of Safford, Monica Montalvo (Audie) of Albany, Georgia; five sons, Ben Penrod of Thatcher, Nicki Penrod of Thatcher, Howard Penrod of Central, Pete Apodaca/Penrod (Courtney) of Lakeside, Ricky Apodaca/Penrod of Show Low; two sisters, Velma Smithson of Mesa, Dorothy Jean VanCleave of Taylor; a brother, Joe Penrod of Fort Thomas; thirty-three grandchildren and thirty-six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Foye Jack Penrod and a brother, Floyd "Sodie" Penrod.

Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the mortuary. Viewing will be from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Show Low Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. with Bishop Randy Tenney officiating.
