Mercedes Rocha

Mercedes Rocha, 82, passed away April 14 in Yuma, Ariz. She was born September 8, 1922 in Phoenix, Ariz.

She was raised in Congress, attending school in Congress and Wickenburg. She worked briefly as a waitress until her marriage in 1956 to Heriberto in Blythe, Calif., where they made their home for a short time.

They moved to Aguila, where they raised a family of five children. Mercedes enjoyed being a homemaker, the ranch-style life, raising her family and caring for her animals.

She is preceded in death by her husband Heriberto in 1993, brother Freddie Urquidez in 2004. She is survived by children Teresa Jones of Yuma, Ariz., Mike Reza of El Paso, Texas, Reymundo Reza of Aguila, Ariz., Diane Hazelhurst of Wyoming, Elizabeth Echevettia of Houston, Texas; brothers Bobby Urquidez of Wickenburg, Ariz., Jimmy Urquidez of Buena Park, Calif., Pete Urquidez of Kingman, Ariz.; sister Rosie Chavez of South Gate, Calif.; and 30 grandchildren.

Visitation was held April 19 at Frey-Wickenburg Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at Congress Cemetery today (Wednesday, April 20) at 10 a.m. with Father Brian Bell officiating.

Mercedes also has a brother Freddy Urquides at Congress cemetery
