Georgia Mary Austin, wife, mother, and grandmother died April 30, 2003 surrounded by the adoring family to whom she had dedicated all of her adult life.

She was raised on the Gillespie Ranch in Vernon with her five brothers and two sisters. She attended high school in St. Johns. In 1935 she met her life long sweetheart L.D. Austin. Within five months L.D., his sweet Texas charm and good humor had won her heart and her hand in marriage. Georgia was an Arizona pioneer and her married life in Vernon was filled with hardship. One of her early homes was a tent where she raised her first child. She washed her family's clothes on a scrub board and baked countless loaves of bread to feed her children. She loved to pick and prepare vegetables from the large family garden and always enjoyed spending time in the forest gathering
pinions. Georgia and L.D. lived in Vernon until 1955, at that time the family moved to Eagar were she remained until she died.

Georgia was blessed with a large and loving family, including 38 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was extremely proud of all five of her sons, 12 grandsons, one granddaughter and two great-grandsons have served missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Georgia's entire life was committed to her husband, family and church. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, mischievous sense of humor, unfailing wisdom and devotion to her family. She will always remain close to the hearts of her family and will meet as a family again in the presence of our Father in Heaven.

She left behind her loving husband of 67 years, L.D. Austin. In her new heavenly home, she was greeted by her mother Loretta Aditha Penrod, father, Charles Fredrick Gillespie, and son Terry Brent Austin, she was also greeted by her granddaughter Rachel Beecroft, along with husband Judy Beecroft, who was taken in Nov. 2002. Georgia will be greatly missed by her husband and seven remaining children: Boyd Austin of Snowflake; Nona Ashcroft of Eagar, Gene Austin of Paradise Valley, Glenna Bigelow of Eagar, Gary Austin of Thatcher, Danny Austin of Eagar, Kimberly Austin of South Dakota.
