Melvin Robert Lewis, Sr., "Melstrait", died Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009 in Holbrook, Arizona at the age of 55.

He was born on October 10, 1953 in Ganado, Arizona to Eugene Lewis, Sr. and Mary Lucy (Biah). He worked as an ambulance driver throughout his life. He also played the drums in a country-western band where he picked up the country-western style of dress. He was a great artist and enjoyed pencil sketching. He loved to ride horses and make people laugh. He truly was a joy to be around.

He is survived by his children, Corinda, Lance, Melvin, Jr. and Philamina Lewis; brother, Eugene Lewis, Jr.; sisters, Charlene Scott, Marietta Pete, Marlene Pete, Cecelia Jimmie as well as many extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by a grandfather, Blackwater Biah, grandmother, Annie Ruth Biah and father, Eugene Lewis, Sr.

The funeral service will begin 10:00 A.M., Friday, April 17, 2009 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Greasewood, Arizona. The viewing will begin 1 hour prior at 9:00 A.M. Interment will be at the Greasewood Cemetery.
