Virgil D. Coombs Born in Central, Arizona on May 5, 1925. Departed on June 8, 2003 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona. Virgil Doyle Coombs, 78, a life long resident of Arizona passed away on Sunday, June 8th. He was born in Central, Arizona on May 5, 1925. During World War II, Mr. Coombs served in the United States Navy. For the last thirty years, he owned and operated Coombs Countertops in Cottonwood. A business that he ran with his beloved wife Bonnie until her death on March 8, 2002. He is survived by his children: Bonnie Murphy, Tucson, Ariz.; Deborah Shaya, Albany, N.Y.; Roxanne Standiford, Maryville, Wash.; Linda Boardo, Bellingham, Mass.; Virgil Coombs, Jr., San Diego, Calif.; two step-children Carol Hotchin and Rickey Crandall; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services for Mr. Coombs will be held on Wednesday, June 11th at the Verde Baptist Church, 102 Willard Street in Cottonwood. Visitation will be held from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale. Westcott assisted the family with arrangements.
