Ernie Freitas, Sr., 78, of Camp Verde, a retired truck driver, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, in Prescott. He was born April 10, 1931, on a farm in Monterey County, CA, to Joe and Marian (Cardoza) Freitas. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving two tours in the Korean Conflict. He was married to Frona Perrine on April 4, 1952, in Monterey, CA. He enjoyed trucking across country with his family, playing cards, fishing, watching old Westerns, watching baseball (especially the Diamondbacks), and the outdoors. He is survived by his daughter, LaDonna Freitas Sharp of Camp Verde; his son, Paul J. Freitas of Glendale; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frona and his sons, Ernie Jr., Jimmy, Kenny and Tommy. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 11, at Black's Mortuary Chapel, Show Low. Viewing will be 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M Saturday. Interment, with Military Honors provided by the White Mountain Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in the Show Low Cemetery.
