Juanita "Jennie" Acevedo Olds, age 80, of Miami and Louisville, KY., joined her Heavenly Father on May 27, 2009. She was surrounded by a multitude of family during the last days of her life before the Holy Spirit beckoned, returning her home at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday night with sons Anthony and Jack and sister Dora by her side in her final hours.

Jennie was born on February 5, 1929, in Miami, Arizona to Antonio and Loreto Acevedo. She grew up a lover of fashion, always beautifully attired emanating style and elegance throughout her life. She was also recognized as a great dancer which may have contributed to her everlasting youthful spirit and appearance. An accomplished beautician, Jennie successfully owned and operated the Silhouette Beauty Salon in the early 1950's to mid 60's before marrying and moving briefly to Ft. Wayne, Indiana before settling in Louisville, KY. Twelve of her fifteen years in Louisville she co-owned the Por-Que-No Mexican Supper Club, one of Louisville's first Mexican restaurants, and one of its finest.

Jennie returned to Arizona in late 1982 residing in Mesa. She later returned to her roots retiring as a beautician from J.C. Penny's hair salon in the Tri City Mall and Superstition Springs Mall. She later worked at Friendship Village in Tempe in their beauty salon. A caring soul, she had many friends everywhere she went and worked. A beloved mother, sister, daughter, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend,

Jennie inspired us all with her unconditional love, determined strong will and grace. Whether family, friend or stranger she always greeted everyone with a smile. She will always be remembered for her compassion and thoughtfulness. She is survived by her two sons Anthony Masters and Jack Olds; sister Dora (Rudy) Andazola; brother Manuel (Billie) Acevedo; a long list of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Lupe and Jimmy; and sister Carmen Acevedo.

Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, June 3, at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacreament Church located at 914 Sullivan Street in Miami. Rosary will follow at 9:30 a.m. followed by interment which will take place at the Mountain Breeze Memorial Gardens on the Miami-Superior Highway.
