Patricia Anne (Young) Madrid, 63, a Phoenix native, passed away surrounded by family and friends on June 2, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was married to Robert, who preceded her in death 4 years ago. She was also preceded by her parents Bob and Charla Young.

Patsy is survived by her two children, Trisha Madrid Marolf (Michael) and Ryan, Madrid, (Rebecca) her brother Bob Young (Sylvia) and five very special grandchildren - Trey, Madrid, Paloma, Aiden and Sloane. She is also survived by brothers-in-law John and Ken Madrid; sisters-in-law Sylvia Young, Coleen Madrid, Nancy Madrid, Linda Madrid and Mary Ann Madrid; nieces Julie, Amy, Olivia and Cara Madrid and nephews Robert and Brian Young along with Ken, Gregg and Todd Madrid.

Patsy's extended family includes numerous relatives throughout the Southwest. Patsy attended Lowell Elementary and graduated from Phoenix Union High School. She was a long-time employee of the Peoria Unified School District and for many years worked at Oakwood Elementary School. Patsy was an incredible person filled with enormous warmth and empthy for her family and friends.

She had an amazing charm and a wonderful smile that touched so many people. She lived life with zeal. Patsy loved playing tennis, traveling and sewing was a true passion of hers. In addition, she was a very accomplished cook. Her homemade tortillas were legendary and loved by family and friends. She will be dearly missed.

A Visitation service will be held on Thursday June 4 from 3 to 6 pm at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 6180 W. Utopia, Glendale, Arizona. A Funeral Mass including a celebration of her life will be held on Friday June 5, at 11am, also at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Cancer Society's "Relay For Life of Buckeye"
