Dionisio (Niche) Jaramillo

Dionisio "Niche" Jaramillo Sr., 74, died Sunday, June 21, 2009, in Springerville. He was born April 17, 1935, in St. Johns to Erasmo Jaramillo and Avaloy Garcia.

Niche served in the U.S. Marines from 1952 to 1955. He proudly served in the Korean War. He was passionate about the military and respect for the military and the U.S. flag.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was a retired mason and operator for MS Construction.

Niche was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed golf and the outdoors immensely. He was a collector of antiques and treasures. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Jaramillo; sons Dionisio "Niche" Jaramillo Jr. and Jerry (Lori) Jaramillo; daughters Carmen (Robert) Tanner, Amanda Jaramillo, Victoria (Rob) Jackson of Flagstaff and Janet Jaramillo, all of St. Johns; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; brothers Ernest (Mary) Jaramillo of Phoenix and Erasmo Jr. (Maria) Jaramillo of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters Emily Baca of Springerville, Tina (Henry) Reyes of St. Johns and Gladys (Wallace) Ott of Flagstaff.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Teresa Cruz and brother David Jaramillo.

A viewing will be held Friday, June 26, at 6 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in St. Johns.

Funeral mass will be held Saturday, June 27, at 11 a.m., also at the church. Interment will follow the services at St. Johns Catholic Cemetery.
