Lee Maxwell Shumway

Lee Maxwell Shumway, 78, died April 12, 2007, in Mesa.

He was born Oct. 5, 1928, in McNary to Richard Leo Shumway and Charlotte Rebecca Brewer. Lee and his wife, Jan, lived in Taylor for 40 years, two years in Vernon and 14 years in Mesa.

He was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many ways. His favorite service was working as a patron in the Arizona Temple for over 15 years. He had a great influence for good with many people. He will be forever remembered for the love he shared with his family and his unique sense of humor.

He especially appreciated and loved his wife, Jan; they were married for over 54 years. He was so grateful for her devotion and care for him the past several years.

Lee was grateful to have shared his life with his wife, Jan; his children, Terri (Brent) Beals, Gary (Denise) Shumway, Richard (Sage) Shumway, Janette (Ross) Ferrin and Randy (Cheryl) Shumway; 28 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Joan Tanner, Annette Beckman and Sharyn (Dee) Wilcox.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 16, at the Udall Chapel at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mesa. Graveside services were held that same day at the Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery in Taylor.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Hospice of the Valley in his name or to the Mesa, Arizona Genealogy Library.
