Mary Moreland

The family of Mary Moreland sadly announces her death at age 91.

She resided in Wickenburg for 30 years and was well known for her love of people, birds, fish and trees. She had a "green thumb" growing trees from a seed and she enjoyed the many birds her garden attracted.

She created a garden oasis, having fish ponds and outdoor "living rooms" at her home in the downtown area on Tegner Street. There was no doubt that her favorite color was green.

Her love of nature and the outdoors began in her youth in Hungary. When she immigrated to America at age 16, she continued her love for the garden, growing plants and trees all her life.

She loved to make dolls, quilts and crafts, delighting in creating items and sharing them with others. She loved to take roses from her garden to people when they were sick, and she visited the shut-ins in the Wickenburg Nursing Home to share greetings of encouragement with her flowers, her Bible and her happy face.

Mary is remembered for her being a real lively character as she never regarded anyone as a stranger and would talk to everyone she met as if she were their long-time friend.

Mary's love for people moved her to talk with a great many residents in Wickenburg and the surrounding areas about her strong belief in the Bible and the hope it gives for a resurrection to life, Acts 24:15, on a righteous paradise earth as promised in God's Word, 2 Peter 3:13.

She will be remembered by her many friends for her loving Christian activities as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

During her last years of living in Wickenburg, there were many people in the community who would look in on her, bring her food and gifts of appreciation, or provide a ride home from the store - and these kindnesses have not gone unnoticed by her loved ones.

We say thank you very much for the love you all showed to her.

She stayed 15 months in a nursing home in Sun City West prior to her death.

She is missed by her six children, 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
