Robert E. Friece, 87, passed away on Feb. 6, 2004. Robert was born on June 11, 1916 in Circleville, Ohio.

Robert graduated from Circleville High School in 1934. In 1935 he joined the Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Colorado. After leaving the Navy in 1939 he worked for the Mead Paper Company. He married Evelyn Young in 1941. He joined the U.S. Air Corps in 1942 serving 30 months overseas in India, Iran and North Africa. He left the Air Corps in 1946. He entered Capital University in 1947 as a 31-year-old freshman under the G.I. Bill of Rights and experienced the birth of son David that same year.

He moved his family to Wickenburg in 1952, serving as Assistant Principal, teaching elementary school and coach of the Wickenburg High School Golf Team and received his Masters Degree in School Administration from ASU in 1958, retiring from teaching in 1982 and suffered the loss of son David in 1985. From 1982 to present he played a lot of golf, was a life member of the American Legion-D.A.V. and W.C.C. Mr. Friece was affectionately known as Mr. "Fierce" by many of his students.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn of Wickenburg.
Services will be held Feb. 13, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Mount Hope Assembly of God Church, 500 Penn Lane, in Wickenburg, with Pastor Duane Middleton officiating.

Family requested, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Mount Hope Assembly of God Church building fund.
