Kenneth Leroy Claypool, 80, of Casa Grande, Ariz., formerly of Creston, died Jan. 7, 2000 at the Pecos Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Chandler, Ariz. Private burial will be held at a later date in the Moon Cemetery at Macksburg. Cole and Maud Mortuary in Casa Grande, Ariz., had charge of arrangements in Arizona.

Mr. Claypool was born Nov. 26, 1919 in Orient to Floyd and Rose (Petzoldt) Claypool. On April 26, 1941, he married Clarice Lattig. He was an optician and worked in Dr. W. W. Fisher's office in Creston for many years. He was a member of the Jaycees and Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Clarice Claypool of Casa Grande, Ariz.; a son Ronald, (wife Patti) Claypool of Chandler, Ariz.; three daughters, Sherry (husband Joe) Ortega of Casa Grande, Ariz., Connie Shellenberger of Long Beach, Calif; and Patty Bishop of Creston; a brother, Lester, (wife Molly) Claypool of Oskaloosa; a sister, Shirley (husband Don) McCammond of Tucson, Ariz; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gerald and Francis; and one granddaughter.
