John Henry Eden

Born in Calamus, Olive Township, Iowa on Jan. 20, 1922.
Departed on Jan. 14, 2006 and resided in Eden, Utah.

Our wonderful husband, father, step-father, grandfather and great-grandfather, John Henry Eden passed away in Ogden, Utah on Saturday, January 14, 2006. John was born January 20, 1922 in Calamus, Iowa to Lester and Marjorie Eden.

He worked on the family farm in his early adult years and later owned and operated Eden Implement Co. in Grand Mound, Iowa.

He married Jeanette Fick and they had three beautiful daughters, Janice, Trudy, and Mary Jo. The family moved to Tucson in 1951 where he worked at Tucson Medical General Hospital for 2 years and then moved to San Bernadino, California where he became Purchasing Agent for the City of San Bernadino.

John married Ellen Warren Bunce in 1966 and was a terrific step-father to Ellen's 3 children, Penny, Dale, and Elyse Bunce. They retired to Sedona, Arizona in 1975 where in 1989 John became the Director of the Sedona Community Cemetery. Under his 10 years of management the cemetery flourished and the results can still be seen today.

He enjoyed the role of grandfather to his 10 grandchildren, Aubun, Aaron and Eric Richardson, Michelle, Melissa, Damon and Derek Ogle, Jenny and Jaime Dillard and Andrew Bunce and in in his last years was a loving "GG John" to his 8 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Jeanette and his treasured daughter Janice. He is survived by his loving wife Ellen, daughters Judy (Al) Renius, Costa Mesa, CA; Mary Jo (Al) Rosen, Stanton, CA; Penny (Gilbert) Ogle, Eden, UT; Dale Bunce, Palm Gardens, FL; Elyse (Jeff) Otto, Sedona, AZ; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was loved by all who knew him; his sharp wit, the twinkle in his eye and his corny jokes will be missed.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood, Arizona.

Interment will follow at Sedona Community Cemetery.
