| Esther Viola Abbey Born in Hoople, North Dakota on Feb. 3, 1916 Departed on Jan. 27, 2005 and resided in Mayer, AZ. Esther Viola Abbey, 88, of Mayer, Arizona passed away on Thursday, January 27th. She was one of twelve children and was born on February 3, 1916 in Hoople, North Dakota. Mrs. Abbey was a retired federal employee having worked for the U.S. Agricultural Department in Fargo, North Dakota. After her retirement she moved to Arizona and was a member of the Community Church in Cordes Lakes. She was also a member of the Cordes Lakes Community Association and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Abbey on November 1, 1940. A widow at the age of 24, she raised four children and worked full time. Mrs. Abbey is survived by three daughter, Marilyn Hee, Colo.; Yvonne Kelting, Wy,; Jan Ayers, Wash.; a brother, Cecil Storrud, Mt.; six sisters, Mable Branvold, N.M.; Rhoda Abbey, S.D.; Berniece Wildhagen, Ark.; Lois Ballard, Jerry Stoorud, Verna Knutson all of Montana; ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Friday, February 4th at 10:30 a.m. at the Community Church in Cordes Lakes. Westcott Funeral Home Of Cottonwood assisted the family with arrangements.
