Ilene (Dame) (Huber) Smee

Ilene (Dame) Smee grew up in Akaska, was married and lived briefly in Mobridge before moving to Wisconsin and then to Morristown, Ariz., where she died Wednesday, July 25, at the age of 76.

She was born June 20, 1931, at home on the family farm near Akaska to David and Lydia Huber. She attended Akaska schools.

On Aug. 15, 1948, Ilene married Harold Dame in Mobridge. After a short time in Mobridge, they moved to Milwaukee, Wis., and then in 1967 to Arizona, settling in Morristown.

Ilene worked at the Gold Nugget Restaurant and later at the Bar Seven Restaurant where she worked as a waitress for more than 20 years. During that time, she also worked at the Morristown Elementary School.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold in 1985. She met Melvin Smee in 1996 and they were married shortly thereafter. Ilene retired that year and they began to travel and spent their summers in South Dakota. They were members of the Elks Lodge and very active there.

Always active, Ilene loved to dance. She was known for her generosity, her smile and sense of humor. She truly enjoyed her family and grandchildren, and one of her hobbies was ceramics. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Lioness Club.

Survivors are her husband Melvin Smee of Morristown; children, Pat (Rick) Christofferson of Morristown, Pam (Kelly) Williams of Bagdad, Ariz., David (Kimberly) Dame of Peoria, Ariz., Harry (Lori) Dame of Morristown; stepchildren, Donald (Lou Anne) Smee of Spring, Texas, Chuck Smee of Redmond, Ore., Debra (Mark) Mejia of Beaumont, Calif., Kathy (Jim) Sabel of Riverside, Calif.; brother Clyde Huber of Eureka; sister Dorothy Schilling of Mobridge; grandchildren Keith, Holly, Tony, Tommy, Robert, Kimberly, Kristi, Jami, Gary, Justin, Jessica, Joshua, Troy and Krystal; great grandchildren Allyson, Matthew, Jacob, Joshua, Michael, Felicia, Bailey, Justin Jr., Maddison, Cory, Jessie, Garrett, Josh, Tyler and Jeremia; and two great great grandchildren.

Her father in 1976, mother in 1985, husband Harold in 1985, sons Keith Dame in 1971 and Michael Dame in 1994, preceded Ilene in death.

Funeral services for Ilene were Monday, July 30, at the First Presbyterian Church in Morristown with burial following at the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. Wickenburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
