John W. Franzen

John W. Franzen of Prescott, Ariz., passed away on July 15, 2009, at the age of 76. He was born in Holland and came to the U.S. at the age of 16.

John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He lived most of his life in Salt Lake City, Utah, working in the jewelry business for 45 years as a store manager for an international jewelry chain. John was full of life and loved people and music. His family says John is now a "diamond in the sky shining down on all those he loves."

John is survived by his wife Mamie; two children, Victor (Laura) and Debbie (Russ); nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009, at the family home. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20850.
