| The Camp Verde Bugle, Camp Verde, Arizona Saturday, July 11, 2009 Mildred Lucille McCracken, 96, died June 26, 2009 in Cottonwood, AZ. She was born March 1, 1923 to James and Angeline (Lucas) Wineinger in Vigo County, Indiana. She attended schools in Bicknell, Indiana. She married Irvin E. McCracken February 23, 1935, and to this union was born one son, Francis I. McCracken. They lived and worked in southern Indiana until moving to Phoenix, AZ in 1946. Upon her husband's death in 1998, she moved to Cottonwood, AZ. Mildred, along with being a wife and mother, worked many years as a seamstress in different companies in Phoenix. This complemented her hobbies of sewing for her home and family. She stitched many beautiful hand-made quilts, garments for the family, and home furnishings, along with crocheting many fine pieces. She loved to garden and grew vegetables and many beautiful flowers. She was known as a great cook and homemaker, and a "grandma" to many children in the neighborhood. Mildred will be remembered for her humor, great mind, and quick wit. She saw the good in every situation. She was an inspiration to many, and will be missed by her family and friends. She became a Christian at an early age and believed in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 63 years on January 29, 1998; her parents; two sisters, Nell McLin and Elva Hazel; and six brothers, Lloyd, Floyd Murch, Eural, Kenneth, and Edward Wineinger. Survivors include one son, Francis I. McCracken and his wife Karen of Clarkdale, AZ; two grandsons, Kelly J. McCracken and his wife Alene of Tempe, AZ and Alan F. McCracken of Scottsdale, AZ; along with several nieces and nephews. Private burial services will be held at Resthaven Park Cemetery, Glendale, AZ.
