Born in Cortez, Colorado on Dec. 14, 1918.
Departed on Dec. 29, 2005 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona.

Thelma McLin Farley, 87, died December 29, 2005. Thelma T McLin was born December 14, 1918, in Cortez, Colorado, to Fred S. and Nellie Mae (Townsend) McLin.

Thelma went to school at Fort Lewis, Campion Academy in Loveland, Colo., then graduated from Arizona Academy in Phoenix, Ariz., in 1936. She continued her education at Fort Lewis College in Hesperus, Colo., and La Sierra College in Riverside, Calif. Mrs. Farley graduated from Arizona State College in 1963, then received her Master's Degree "With Distinction" from Northern Arizona University.

Mrs. Farley taught 5th grade from 1963 until 1980 at Mt. Eldon School which became the W.F. Killip School of Flagstaff. She had moved to Cottonwood in 1939, to Flagstaff in 1952, to Cornville in 1972, then returned to Cottonwood in 1988.

Thelma liked to play the piano, paint, sew, read, camp and travel. A caring and compassionate person, she enjoyed helping others and gave many hours of of volunteer service to the community, most recently at the Central Arizona Food Bank. She had been the director of Adventisit Community Services. Because of her strong support of the Commodity Supplement Food Program, in 1990 Thelma was selected by the Arizona Rural Health Conference to be the recipient of the "Martha Ortiz Volunteer of the Year" Award. For her commitment to community service, Mrs. Farley received a daily "Point of Light" award from President George Bush in 1991.

Thelma's positive outlook, smile, and sense of humor endeared her to family and friends. She will be missed by those whose lives she touched. She is survived by Glen McLin of Shelton, WA, Glenda Lum of Honolulu, HI., Kathryn Klein of Cottonwood, AZ., nieces, nephews and cousins.

The graveside service and burial was at the Cottonwood Cemetery. Memorial Services and a celebration of Thelma's life will be held Saturday, January 14, 2006, at 3:00 p.m. at the Cottonwood Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Farley's name may be made to Holbrook Adventist Indian School, P.O. Box 910, Holbrook, Az., 86025.
