Nathaniel James (Nathan) Hackett

Nathaniel James Hackett was born Jan 19, 1981 at Linton Memorial Hospital in Linton, N.D. He passed away May 19 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in San Diego, Calif. Nathan was 25 years old.
Nathan was born the third child of Rodney and Jan Hackett. His early childhood took place in Herried, S.D., where his parents served as pastors of the Assembly of God Church. He moved with his family to Hulett, Wyo., where he developed a keen love for fishing, the outdoors and sports.

Nathan moved to Wickenburg, Ariz., in his junior year of high school. He became an accomplished wrestler, going to the state wrestling tournament his junior and senior year. He also enjoyed competing in cross-country and track, running in the one and two mile events.
Upon completion of high school in 1999, Nathan joined the Marines and took his basic training at Camp Pendleton. He continued with the Marines becoming a Sergeant with the Air Wing Division - 462 Heavy Marine Helicopter Squadron. He led his crew as the most highly qualified hydraulic and airframe mechanic, serving as a collateral duty quality assurance representative.

Nathan held the honor of being a major part of the largest CH53 Echo breakdown and deployment with subsequent buildup for Operation Iraqi Freedom. Nathan served his country in several deployments including both Iraq and Kuwait. He served his country well.
Nathan met Hollie Coonrod in Phoenix, Ariz., and married her on July 4, 2004. Nathan loved his wife, his son Josh, his family, and his Harley.

He is survived in death by his wife Hollie Coonrod of San Diego; his son Josh; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Hackett of Wickenburg; his brothers Daniel and Preston; his sister Patricia; nieces Alexis and Olivia; nephews Logann and Collin, and many friends.
Nathan will be deeply missed.
Services were held May 26 at the Wickenburg Community Center.
