Larry Douglas Roberts
Born Sept. 8, 1942, in Glendale, Ariz., to Roach and Ethel Roberts, Larry Douglas "Roach" Roberts went home to be with Jesus on Jan. 23, 2002.

Larry graduated from Wickenburg High School in 1960, where he served as Student Body President, Boys' State Representative and was very active in school sports.

He served his country with the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airbourne Division.

In 1989, he and married the love of his life, Susie, in Wickenburg and they shared more than 12 precious years together.

Larry was an active member of the Wickenburg community, participating in Pop Warner football, Desert Stagers, Wickenburg High School Reunion Committee, and various other local organizations.

He was elected to the Town Council and served two consecutive terms, and was elected mayor of Wickenburg in the year 2000.

Larry is survived by his wife Susie; daughter Diane Lewis; son-in-law Reuben Lewis; granddaughters Danica, 11, and Hilary, 9; stepsons Trevor Eltringham and Kevin Eltringham; brothers Bob of Casa Grande, Ariz., Earl of Phoenix, Ariz., Vernon of Glendale, Ariz., and Ted of Tucson, Ariz.; and sisters Jane Woolbright of Kennewick, Wash., Carolyn McGee of Young, Ariz., and Patsy Ellithorpe of Sun Valley, Calif.; and 13 nephews and 10 nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents Roach and Ethel Roberts and one nephew.

Larry's desire was to serve his Lord and his community with wisdom, integrity and excellence. He loved his wife, family and many friends, and he will be dearly missed.

Funeral services were held Tuesday (Jan. 29) at noon at the Wickenburg Community Center, with interment at the Wickenburg Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Frey Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Wickenburg.
