Docia "Dodie" Savage

Former Wickenburg resident Docia "Dodie" Savage was surrounded by her family as she went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005. She was born on Sept. 28, 1948 in Greenville, S.C. to Edwin and Marie Heard.

After graduating from Palo Verde High School in Tucson, Ariz., she married Tim Savage on Nov. 12, 1968. Wickenburg has always been home for Dodie and Tim, although they resided in Alexandria, La., and most recently Chino Valley, Ariz.

Dodie worked for Arizona Department of Transportation for over 20 years, both in Wickenburg and Prescott. She was well respected and loved by her coworkers.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Tim Savage of Chino Valley; daughter Sharon, son-in-law Tom, and grandsons Jordan and Logan Pollei of Wickenburg; son Richard, daughter-in-law Jena, and granddaughter Rilyn Savage of Wickenburg; sister Jeannie Ferrin of San Clemente, Calif.; and brother Edwin Heard, Jr., of Dana Point, Calif.
Dodie was kind hearted and easy going. She always found the good in everybody. Her family meant the world to her, and she loved her dogs Patch and Sparky. Her passing followed a yearlong battle with cancer in which her strength and courage were evident to all.

A Celebration of Life was held on Monday, Aug. 22 at First Southern Baptist Church in Wickenburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Arrangements were under the direction of Frey-Wickenburg Funeral Home.
