Dale E. Zabel Born in Westmoreland, Kansas on Sept. 26, 1918. Departed on Oct. 11, 2005 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona. Dale Edwin Zabel, 87, of Cottonwood died October 11. He was born September 26, 1918 in Westmoreland, Kansas. He served his country during World War II in the Navy. He was a graduate of Westmoreland High School and Kansas State University where he received his Bachelors and Master Gegrees. Mr. Gabel was a professor of metallurgy, metals and alloys. He retired from Magma Cooper of San Manuel, Arizona as an engineer. He had previously worked as a Quality Control Engineer at Boeing Aircraft. He was a member of professional associations, ASM and AAIME and was a member of the Verde Valley Presbyterian Church. His interest included woodworking, gardening and traveling. His wife of 62 years, Nadean Zabel survives him. He also leaves daughters, Nancy Jenson, Chicago, Ill. and Marjorie Meyer, Tucson and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held November 7 in the Verde Valley Prebyterian Church at 2 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the scholarship fund at the Verde Valley Presbyterian Church, 1500 E.Hombre Drive, Cottonwood, Ariz., 86326.
