The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ Feb. 22, 2002, p. A22 Alice (Takacs) Willis, R.N., of Wickenburg, passed away on Feb. 12, 2002. She was 87. Mrs. Willis was born in Lowell, Ariz. on Dec. 19, 1914. She came to Wickenburg in 1937, having just completed a three-year nursing course at St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Phoenix. She worked a few years at the Wickenburg Hospital, for Dr. Bralliar, then worked eight more years in Dr. Bralliar's office. Alice was the first surgical nurse at the Wickenburg Community Hospital. From 1957-67, she was Wickenburg's first school nurse. She retired in 1981, after 15 years of service with Dr. Thomas's office. Over the next several years she enjoyed traveling, visiting six continents where she made many friends. She visited Benares, India, "The Holy City" twice, visiting her adopted family she met in 1976. Survivors include sons and family Gary and Margaret Willis of Peoria, and Russell and Dena Willis of Wickenburg; granddaughters Kendra Stephenson, Keena Encinas-Willis and Kami Willis; great-grandsons Wesley Stephenson and Tyler Encinas; and great-granddaughter Kodi Stephenson. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to her favorite charities: St. Vincent de Paul and St. Mary's Food Bank, both in Phoenix.
