Departed on July 11, 2006 and resided in Village of Oak Creek, Ariz.

Robert S. Humphrey, 84, resident of the Village of Oak Creek, Sedona, Arizona, passed away in Cottonwood, Arizona on Tuesday, July 11, 2006. He was born on January 22, 1922 in Berkeley, California to Earl D. and Emily (Alves) Humphrey.

As a child, Robert attended the Sacred Heart Elementary School and was a 1940 graduate of the Oakland Tech High School. As a young man, Robert served his country during WWII in the United States Army and held the position of Tec 5.

As an adult, he worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 43 years, in which time, Robert remained injury free. Through his job as an Assistant Manager , car engineer - automotive department he made many connections and friendships within the automotive industry, especially GMC. He took his retirement in 1983.

Robert was an avid golfer; he received hole-in-one in September of 1979 at the Meadowbrook Country Club, located in Northville, Michigan; he also received Kiwanian of the year in 1991 at Bell Rock Kiwanis. Robert was former Director of Bell Rock Kiwanis, as well as, Secretary from 1988-1990. And from 1978-2002, Robert was a member of the Oak Creek Country Club, as well as the Rambo’s.

In addition to golf, Robert also enjoyed football, baseball, hockey and bowling. It was in 1972 that Robert took first place winner at the 29th Annual Detroit Free Press Mixed Doubles Bowling Tournament; in which they defeated 3, 000 other teams to win first place.

Robert was a life-long and devoted member of the Catholic faith and a former member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Phoenix, Arizona and St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Sedona, Arizona.

Robert is preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Catherine Humphrey; his father, Earl D. Humphrey; his mother, Emily Alves Humphrey; and his brother, Edgar Humphrey.

He is survived by his sons, Michael of Wisc. and Mark and Dawn. Westland, Mich.; daughter, Roberta of the Village of Oak Creek, Sedona, Ariz.; brother, Earl and Alice, Oakland, Calif.; many nieces and nephews; and his special feline friend, Willie.

A Visitation will be held at Westcott Funeral Home, 1013 E. Mingus Ave., in Cottonwood, Arizona on Thursday, July 13, 2006 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 330 W. Coral Gables Dr., in Phoenix, Arizona on Friday, July 14, Arizona on Friday, July 14, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
