John David Boyd Born in San Pedro, California on Dec. 10, 1927. Departed on Aug. 29, 2006 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona. John David Boyd, 78, of Cottonwood, Arizona, Born December 10, 1927 in San Pedro, California, passed away August 29, 2006. He served in the merchant marines. He was a retired business owner, having owned and operated his own roofing company. John was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-saints. He was the founder of the Verde Valley Relay for Life, which began in 1995. He was also a member of the Elks and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Joan; sons, Dan (Chris) Boyd, John Boyd, and David (Lori) Boyd; daughters, Janet (Randy) Lopez, Pam (Gary) Kostelney, Loriana Anderson, and Carrie (Robert) Campoy; sister, Betty Lou Carver; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the LDS Church Building on Hombre Drive in Cottonwood on Saturday, September 2, 2006. A viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. John will be laid to rest at the Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the LDS Church Missionary Fund, 1377 Hombre Drive, Cottonwood, Arizona, 86326. Westcott Funeral Home, Cottonwood and Camp Verde, Arizona.
