Janet M. Scherf, 86, resident of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2005, in the Village of Oak Creek of Sedona, Arizona. She was born on March 13, 1920 to Robert Louis and Gerda Pauline (Bright) Merkley, in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she grew up and attended the local school there.

Later she attended Secretarial School in Washington D.C., and worked for Jefferson County as Clerk of the Court.

Janet enjoyed oil painting, swimming and exercising.

She preceded in death by her husband, Charles Scherf; her son, Michael Gregory Scherf; and five siblings.

Janet leaves behind her son, Charles “Chuck” Scherf, wife, Julie, Cornville, Ariz.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

There are no local services scheduled.
