Armando V. Vasquez, Sr. Born in Gila Bend, Arizona on Feb. 4, 1933. Departed on Aug. 16, 2006 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona. Armando V. Vasquez, 73, resident of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at his home with his family near his side. Armando was born on February 4, 1933, to Francisco and Dolores Vasquez in Gila Bend, Arizona, where he grew up, married and raised a family of his own. Mr. Vasquez worked with the Arizona State Parks at Painted Rock. Upon the closing of this state park, Armando was given his choice of State Parks in which to work. Having always loved the Verde Valley, Dead Horse and Red Rock Parks were his choice of relocation. In 1991, Armando and his family moved to Cottonwood, where, they now call home. Mr. Vasquez retired from the Arizona State Parks after 22 years of dedicated service. He leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Norma M. Vasquez, his son and only child, Armando Vasquez, Jr. with his wife, Elena; and his only grandchild, Kathleen Vasquez. A visitation was held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Gila Bend, Arizona, on Friday, August 18, 2006 from 5:00-8:00 p.m.; the Rosary started at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass followed Saturday morning, August 19, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. Armando was laid to rest at Pioneer Cemetery, which is also located in Gila Bend, Arizona.
