Originally posted to the web in Obituaries, on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 7:04 PM CDT. Morlan “Sam” R. Wiman, age 82, passed away May 11 in Peoria, Ariz. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 14 at 11 a.m. at the Wickenburg Funeral Home with concluding services and interment in the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. Mr. Wiman was born and raised on the family ranch in Mill Iron, Mont. He attended schools there and later served in the U.S. Army. Following his military service he returned to Montana and began ranching and later worked for the Department of Interior with the National Parks Service working at the Grand Canyon, Walnut Canyon near Flagstaff, Ariz., and Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in Ajo, Ariz. After his retirement he started a second hand store in Ajo, then in 1993 he moved to Congress. He was a member of the Wittmann Assembly of God Church. Family was the most important thing in life to Sam. He was a great husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Sheila Wiman of Congress; sons and daughters-in-law Ray and Regina Wiman of Yukon, Okla., Rev. Carl and Margarita Wiman of Wittmann; brother Kenneth Wiman of Baker, Mont.; sister Ruth O'Conner of Caldwell, Idaho; and grandchildren Carl S. Wiman, Jr. of Wittmann; Kristina, Katrina, and Kathleen Wiman all of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by son Larry Wiman in 1963 and brother Sten Wiman in 2005.
