Born in Watertown, Wisconsin on Mar. 12, 1937
Departed on Oct. 23, 2006 and resided in Clarkdale, AZ.

Joan H. Alt, 69, of Clarkdale, Arizona, passed away on October 23, 2006 after a valiant battle against cancer.

She was born March 12, 1937 in Watertown, Wisconsin to Joseph and Mercedes Horack and grew up on a dairy farm.

She became a cosmetologist and was owner/operator of a beauty salon in Milwaukee. It was there she met Marvin Alt. They married August 28, 1961, the same day they left for Arizona.

She was a greeting card merchantizer for over 20 years. She loved movies, tennis, sewing, doll making, wood carving and painting.

She lived in Phoenix for 43 years and had many close friends there. She was a private person but was always optimistic and had words of encouragement and support for family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin; children, Micheal and Beth (Barry Caldwell) Alt of Cottonwood, AZ; grandchildren Eva and Aidan Alt and Olive Caldwell. Also brothers Robert (Mary)Horack, Watertown, WI and Donald (Carol) Horack, Lake Mills, WI; sisters Mary (Ron) Jackson, Denver, CO, Carol (David) Roche, Hibbing, MN, Theresa (Dan) Bastian, Bend, OR, and Joyce (Pat) Dunn, Fort Atkinson, WI.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2006 at the Westcott Funeral Home, 1013 E. Mingus Ave., in Cottonwood, Arizona.
