Born in Cortez, Colorado on Sept. 11, 1935.
Departed on Dec. 19, 2006 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona.

Merlin H. Brooks, 71, resident of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2006. He was born September 11, 1935 in Cortez, Colorado to Ernest and Sybil Brooks.

Merlin proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Techinican 3 Specialist during the Occupation of Germany. He was honored with the National Defense Service Medal and the Army of the Occupation of Germany Medal.

Merlin dedicated 38 years of his life to Lumbermens, formally known as Babbitts, in Cottonwood, Arizona. Prior tohis retirement in 2002, he enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting and rock hounding.

Merlin leaves behind his beloved wife of 36 years, M. Sherron Brooks of Cottonwood; sons, Kevin Brooks, Eric Brooks, and Shawn Brooks; daughters, Merlinda Burreas, Suzzett Gast, Deborah Garrett, and Danielle Russell; brothers, Eugene Brooks, Cliff Brooks, and Don Brooks; fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Merlin’s life will be honored during a Graveside Service with military honors on Friday, December 22, 2006 at 11:00 a.m., at the Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale, Arizona.
