Thurman Merchant, Jr. Born in Hatfield, Arkansas on July 6, 1926. Departed on Feb. 12, 2007 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona. Thurman Merchant, Jr., 80, resident of Cottonwood, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2007 in Flagstaff. He was born July 6, 1926 in Hatfield, Arkansas to Thurman Merchant, Sr. and Martha Geneva Merchant. Thurman was a U.S. Navy WWII Veteran. Professionally, he was a lumberjack and woods manager of Happy Jack division of Southwest Forest Industry and Stone Container Industry. He loved building houses, raising cattle and alfalfa and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, papa, and great-grandpa, who will be greatly missed. Thurman leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Charlotte Ann, Cottonwood; his son, Michael J. (Colette) Merchant; his daughters, Tari (Leonard) Buchanan, Jill (Fred) Barnes, all of Cottonwood; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services will be private.
