Jewel Bernice Valdez Born in West Blockton, Alabama on Nov. 16, 1929 Departed on Aug. 9, 2007 and resided in Clarkdale, Arizona. Jewel Bernice Valdez, 77, resident of Clarkdale, passed away at home on Thursday, August 9, 2007. She was born November 16, 1929 in West Blockton, Alabama to Claude and Aria LaNora (Reed) Clark. Professionally, Bernice worked as a waitress. She was a member of the M.M.M. (Mater Misericordiae Mission). She enjoyed shopping, cooking, gardening and home décor. Her greatest joy came from being a wife, mother and running her household. She is preceded in death by her sister, Linnie Clark. Bernice leaves behind her husband of 47 years, Jesus “Jess” Valdez of Clarkdale; three sons, Anthony Valdez with his wife, Ami of Tucson, Timothy Valdez of Chile, South America, and Raymond Bishop of Lake Montezuma; her sister, Virginia Lawry of Wisc. and two grandchildren. The Rosary will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Latin Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following services, Bernice will be laid to rest at the Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale.
