Mary Phyllis Leininger Mary Phyllis Leininger, 88, resident of Cottonwood, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2007. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 20, 1918. She was the daughter of John and Pauline (Rendos) Sopko. Mary worked at the McLaren Hospital in Flint, Michigan in the kitchen, where she specialized in food preparation. Mary was devoted in her Catholic Faith; even after she was unable to attend her local diocese, Mary regularly found programs on television in order to receive the word of God. In her younger days, Mary was very talented with needlework; she enjoyed crocheting, and embroidery. She was a very independent and vibrant individual. She will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends at the Verde Plaza Apartments. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; and one sister. She leaves behind her son, Edward and Karen Leininger, Clio, Mich.; daughter, Mary Leininger, Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at Westcott Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 18, 2007. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. A special thanks to the staff at Verde Valley Medical Center – ICU Unit; for their kindness and professionalism.
