Maria S. Granillo, 92, of Florence died Nov. 27, 2006 at Desert Pavilion in Casa Grande. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Assumption Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 11 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Charles Cloud. Burial will be in Florence Cemetery. Mrs. Granillo was born May 4, 1914 in Chandler to Dolores and Rita (Quijada) Salazar and was a lifelong Arizonan. She loved the outdoors, flowers, birds and plants. She also enjoyed writing stories of the past and spending time with her family. Survivors include a daughter, Maria Dolores McCullough of Florence; two sons, Jose David and Fernando S. Granillo of Florence; three sisters, Frances Granillo of Florence, Aurora of Snowflake and Antonia of Phoenix; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose C., and two grandchildren, Patrick Granillo and Vicki McVicker. Donations may be made in Mrs. Granillo's name to Desert Pavilion in Casa Grande.
