Coach Aubery H. Cromer

Aubery H. Cromer, 67, known and loved by many as, Coach Cromer, passed away at his home in Cottonwood on Friday, January 4, 2008. He was born in Flomont, Texas on November 3, 1940 to Herston V. and Lilly Phay (Gresham) Cromer.

Aubery attended and graduated from Sunnyside High School in Tucson; following which he went on to receive his degree from the U of A.

Aubery worked 40 years as a drywall contractor and 8 years as a general contractor; but his time spent coaching football at Mingus Union High School was not only a career, but became his life's passion. Coach Cromer proudly received the "Coach of the Year" Award in both 1993 and 1994. His great devotion to his players and his passion for the sport of football paid off when he had the privilege of coaching the Mingus Marauders at the 1997 state championships-and winning!

Other enjoyments in his life were fishing, camping, and sitting on the beaches in San Diego. He was also proud to be a member of the Rock of Ages Lutheran Church.

Aubery is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Beautonne Fleishman.

He leaves behind his wife of 5 1/2 years, Patricia Cromer, son, Phillip Cromer with his wife, Tracey; daughter, Cynthia Elmer with her husband, Donny, all of Cottonwood; three step-children, Brandi Pott, Cassandra Lozano, and Thomas Scarbrough; his brother-in-law, Eugene Fleishman and eleven grandchildren.
