Oren Jean Vance Oren Jean Vance, resident of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the age of 96. He was born March 3, 1912 in Lookeba, Oklahoma to Lorenzo Wesley and Alice Mable (Aitken) Vance. It was during his youth that Jean moved to Arizona. After graduating Mesa High School he married his first wife, Ruby, and together they moved to the Verde Valley. Originally he worked for the Phelps Dodge Corporation and also became involved in several other business ventures which ultimately led him to become the consignee for Texaco and operated the bulk plant in Clarkdale for forty years. It was in 1979 that he took his retirement. When Jean wasn't working, he enjoyed to go hunting and fishing with his buddies. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Lee Vance; his daughter, Sharron Lee Vance; and his second wife, Beulah C. Vance. Jean leaves behind his sweetheart of 14 years, Helen Criswell of Cottonwood; son, Ralph Vance, Cottonwood; daughters, Barbara and Jim Gilbert, Pima, Ariz., and Pat Aeschlimann, La.; his sister LaVeta and Chris Keszler, Calif.; seven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; and fifteen great-great-grandchildren.
