Joseph Rommel

Joseph Rommel 22, passed away unexpectedly on July 14, 2009.

Originally of Tucson and a graduate of Salpointe High School. Joe has lived in Flagstaff for the past four years while attending NAU, he worked at Babbitts Backcountry and pursued his passion for the outdoors as a guide for Grand Canyon Hikes.

Since December of 2005, Joe successfully donated hundreds of hours as a volunteer for the Coconino County Sheriff's Search and Rescue.

He is survived by his mother, Nancy; father, Rick; brother, Tyler; soulmate Katy Gutzwiller, and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by grandparents, Fred and Peggy Gintz and Bud Rommel. His love for hiking and appreciation of nature was captured in his skilled photography and talented writings. Joe accomplished and witnessed more in his short life than some do in an eternity. May his legacy live on through all of us.

Joe's celebration and remembrance will be Friday, July 24, 2009 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, Visitation 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cyril's Church.
