Saturday, November 27, 1971 Mrs. Frohmiller, Longtime State Auditor, Dies Prescott - Mrs. Ana Frohmiller, 80, Arizona state auditor for 26 years and the only woman ever to run for Arizona governor, died at the Yavapai Community Hospital here Thursday. Mrs. Frohmiller was born in Burlington, Vt., and moved to Phoenix with her family in 1898. She attended public and parochial schools in Phoenix before going to work as a bookkeeper for a Phoenix market. In 1916, at the age of 25, Mrs. Frohmiller moved to Flagstaff where she worked for six years as a bookkeeper for the Babbitt Brothers Mercantile Co. She was appointed Coconino County treasurer in 1922, and subsequently was elected to a term in the office. In 1926 she was elected state auditor, a position she held until 1950. At that time she ran for governor on the Democratic ticket against Howard Pyle. After her defeat in the election, Mrs. Frohmiller became the founding secretary and treasurer of Southwest Savings and Loan Association. She held that position until 1962, when she retired and moved to Prescott. She was married twice and at the time of her death she had been a widow for 41 years. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Sacred Heart Church here. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ruffner Funeral Home from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Survivors include two brothers, Fred M. Collins, of Prescott and George M. Collins of Storrs, Conn. and three sisters, Mrs. Frances Sullivan of West Covina, Calif., Mrs. Genevieve Wilson of Phoenix and Mrs. Clare Olsen of Los Angeles, Calif.
