Wilberta (Willie) (Coon) Bridges

Posted 2009-07-22 by Sharla
Wilberta Lee (Willie) Bridges, 84 passed away peacefully on Feb. 15, 2008 at home with her daughter Dale by her side. Willie was born in Centralia, MO on July 10, 1923 to Wilburn and Bertie Coon.

The family moved to Southern California when she was a child. She met Jack Bridges shortly after high school and they were married on May 10, 1942. They had three daughters whom they raised in Baldwin Park, CA.

Willie and Jack moved to Lake Havasu in 1969 after buying property in Desert Hills in 1968.

After moving to Havasu, Willie worked for a while as a McCulloch 'greeter' for planes with prospective buyers, a waitress, a housekeeper and later, along with Jack, for the McCulloch Corp. until her retirement in 1985.

Willie and Jack always had, and more than welcomed, a house full of relatives and friends throughout their years of living here in Lake Havasu. Everyone always had a great time with them, spending most of it on the lake water skiing, sun bathing and playing.

Willie leaves behind daughters Jackie Bridges and Jolene Brown of Lake Havasu and Dale Martinson of O'Brien, OR; six grandchildren, Darren, Greg, Dawn, Kevin, Daniel, and Fawna; 13 great grandchildren; sister-in¬law Doris, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Willie was predeceased by Jack in Feb. 1994, her parents, two brothers, and several in-laws.

Willie had many wonderful friends in Havasu. Some have gone on, but those who are still here will miss her great laugh and all of those great times together.

As per her wishes, no services are planned. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date with relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Havasu, PO Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.

Arrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
