Evie Dion, 69, entered the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father on January 27, 2003 after a valiant battle with cancer. Evie was born on January 22, 1934 to George and Mable Simpson. She was one of 12 children and grew up on a farm in Topeka, Kansas. Evie was a resident of Lake Havasu City for 29 years. She retired from Lake Havasu Regional Hospital where she was a dietary aide. She loved her work and was well liked and respected by all her co-workers. She was preceded in by her loving and devoted husband of 37 years, Art. They were soul mates and together they shared heartache and happiness and were the best example of what a marriage should be. Evie is survived by her children, Gerry Clem and her husband Daniel, Art Dion Jr. and his wife Kathy, Chrissi South and her husband Darek, David Dion and his wife Rana and John Dion and his wife Jeri. She is also survived by the true lights of her life, her grandchildren: Sarah, Stephen and Elizabeth Clem, Robert Jr. and Amanda Nelson, Syepris Nelson, Brandi South, Christopher, Michael, Joshua and Haley Dion, Eliot, Trish and Eic Rodriguez. She also leaves behind many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, all of who will miss her greatly. Evie loved to bowl. She did it often and she did it well. She was always involved in several leagues at a time and won many high game and high average honors. She served in many leadership roles within the leagues and helped to organize the local Pro-Am Tournament several times. She is a member of the Havasu Lanes Women's Hall of Fame. Evie was also very involved with her church. For many years, she served as coordinator for alter servers and as Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Cahtolic Church. She had a strong faith in the Lord and a deep devotion to our Blessed Mother, both helped her through this last valiant fight. Of all the things in her life, she took the most joy from just being with her grandchildren. They were the light of her life and the reason she fought so hard. Mom, you fought so many difficult battles all throughout your life and always came out on top. We never imagined you wouldn't win this one too. You taught us strength and courage and always gave us unconditional love. For those gifts we are forever grateful. We take comfort in knowing you are at peace in heaven with dad and that someday we'll all be together again. For now, you are our special angel in heaven and forever in our hearts. We love you, Mom. Visitation will be held Friday, January 31, 2003, 6:00 to 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 at Lietz-Fraze Chapel.
