Waite Morton Blake, 74, of Prescott, Arizona, born March 11, 1932, in Phoenix, died Sunday, July 23, 2006 at the VA Medical Center in Prescott.

Memorial services will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 29 at the VA Medical Center Chapel in Prescott. American Legion Post # 6 will present full military honors. The Department of Public Service will also present honors.

Burial will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at Cave Creek, Arizona.

Waite Morton Blake, age 74, of Prescott, died Sunday, July 23, 2006, at the VA Medical Center in Prescott. Waite was born March 11, 1932, in Phoenix, Ariz., to John Albert and Inez Rae (Whiteman) Blake.

Waite served in the U.S. Navy from May 7, 1951, to April 29, 1955, aboard the aircraft carrier Boxer. He attended ordnance school and his decorations in clued the Good Conduct, Korean Service, National Defense and United National Defense awards He attained the rank of Aviation Ordnance man Third Class.

Waite joined DPS July 1, 1960, and retired from DPS on December 31, 1983, with various duty stations across the state. He spent the last eight years as security liaison in the Arizona State House of Representatives.

Waite is survived by his wife, Jonella Rickey Blake; and their children Sandra Lynn Hershey (Bill) and CheyAnne Autumn; his father John Albert Blake; former wife Patsy Blake; their children Waite Michael, Vicki Rae Blake Helton (Scott), Mark Daniel Blake; cousin Bemsley H. Blake; grandchildren Schuyler Blake Helton, Austin Cole Helton, Sawyer Brenae Helton, Dana Noell Helton, Cassandra Hershey, Sara Blake, Gage Daniel Blake, Jessica Leigh Gavan, Brooke Jonelle Gavan, Nicole Daniele Gavan; great-grandchildren Zane Daniel Blake and Amber Blake.

Services for Mr. Blake will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, at the VA Medical Center Chapel. Honors will be presented the American Legion Post # 6.

Burial will be Monday, July 31, at 9:30 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. DPS will provide honors.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donation to the VA Medical Center Hospice Unit, 500 N. Hwy 89, Prescott, AZ 86313.

The Hampton Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
