Bill was born November 20, 1919 in Buffalo, NY, to Italian immigrant parents. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the late 1930's working on the John Muir Trail in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Northern California. Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army before the start of WWII, serving in the Panama Canal Zone. During the war, he served in the Pacific Theater, including Hawaii, Guam, and the Philippines. Upon his discharge, after the war, he returned to Buffalo where he met and married his beloved wife Gloria in 1947. Bill and Gloria moved to California in 1952, finally settling in Pico Rivera, CA; where they raised their two sons, Michael and Paul. Bill worked as a foreman for the Chrysler Corporation for 19 years, until the Southern California plant closed. He worked 10 years for the El Rancho Unified School District, as an equipment operator, until he retired in 1982. Bill and Gloria traveled extensively in retirement, traveling throughout North America, several trips to Europe, and even to the Soviet Union. Bill and Gloria moved to Lake Havasu in February of 2003, and built a house next door to their son. His loving wife Gloria, sons Michael (Brigit) of Lake Havasu, AZ; Paul of Whittier, CA; and six grandchildren survive him. Graveside services will be held at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens on Friday, February 20, 2004 at 1:00 PM, along with military honors. Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory. (Obit: Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home) See Also: Find A Grave |
