Lake Havasu Mortuary & Crematory

Richard Donald Hogue, Jr., passed away on February 14, 2009 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 53. Dick was born to Richard Hogue, Sr. and Georgia Hogue in Rockford, Illinois on January 10, 1956. At the age of 6 his dad decided to move to sunny California after he got tired of the frigid Illinois weather. In his teenage years, he loved to race cars at the strip especially against his cousin's Chevy.

Dick married his high school sweetheart, Karen, on August 18, 1979. They made their first home in Santa Clara, California as he was an auto detailer for Smythe European. In 1981, they moved to Livermore, California as he performed the fleet maintenance for San Francisco based Neptune Society. In 1991 he moved to Carson City, Nevada to be by his parents and operated a pool service with his dad. In 1993 he and his family moved to Silver Springs, Nevada where they built a home with the help of his dad, brother and wife.

After accepting a position in the Engineering Department headed by his brother at the Cal-Neva Resort in 1999, they moved to North Shore Lake Tahoe. Tired of plowing snow and seeking warmer weather, they moved to beautiful Lake Havasu City, Arizona in March 2008. Dick enjoyed camping, boating, jet skiing, swimming, fishing, and people watching with his family and brother but his talent was in auto and boat repair where he spent many days and nights working on engines with his dad.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard, Sr. in June 1997. He is survived by his mother Georgia of Carson City, Nevada, loving wife, Karen, of Lake Havasu City, son Richie (age 24) of Johnson City, Tennessee, daughter Jessica (age 19) of Lake Havasu City, son Raymond (age 10) of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, sister Debbie Reed (Jerry- nieces Danielle and Jazmine) of Redway, California, brother and best friend Kevin (Rhonda - nephews Jeff and Ryan, niece Amanda) of Crystal Bay, Nevada, twin sisters Koreen Zenoby (Tom - nephew Devon, nieces Shaianna and Shayna) of Spring Lake, Minnesota and Doreen Denton (John) of Dayton, Nevada and twin sisters Melissa Bowman (Eric) of Dayton, Nevada and Melinda Lathrop (Ben - niece Vivian and nephew Xander) of Carson City, Nevada, along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins all over the United States.

Informal memorial services will be held at the Church of Nazarene in Lake Havasu City, AZ.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that you take your family to the beach/river and enjoy a nice picnic/outing together, and always cherish the time you have together.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lake Havasu Mortuary & Crematory. Thoughts and condolences can be sent to the family at lakehavasumortuary.com
