Jerry Arthur Holt

Jerry Arthur Holt, 70, passed away October 27, 2007 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born to Walter and Colleta (Hall) Holt on July 27, 1937 in Albany, CA.

Jerry Holt brought his family to Lake Havasu City in 1967, and was well-recognized as a Lake Havasu City Pioneer. He became a licensed real estate salesperson in 1968 and in 1972; he obtained his real estate broker's license.

Becoming politically active in the 1970's, Jerry was elected to the Lake Havasu School Board, and was instrumental in procuring the funding for the building of the Lake Havasu High School Auditorium. From 1976 to 1982, he worked with LHHS band leader, Wes Humphrey to present patriotic speeches to students for Friday Night Football and Basketball Games.

In 1980, Jerry chaired the Mohave County "Reagan for President" Committee. In 1980, Jerry wrote the Arizona Republican platform and became a close ally to U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater, and brought Barry Goldwater to Lake Havasu City for a political fundraiser.

Jerry was elected to the Mohave County Board of Supervisors in November; in 1980 he served as Chairman of the Board for eight years. He is credited for bringing 9-1-1 service to Mohave County.

In 1991 Governor Fife Symington appointed Jerry Holt as Arizona's Real Estate Commissioner, holding that post for twelve years. While Commissioner, Jerry brought to the office a strong commitment to improve the efficiency and visibility of the Department of Real Estate winning nine first-place national awards for excellence in Real Estate Education.

Among Jerry's many close political friends, Barry Goldwater, Bob Stump, Jane Hull, Ed Pastor, and John McCain. Jerry leaves behind his wife, Pat and their three children: David Holt, Vicki Holt and Karen Bohler; brother, Alan Holt; sister, Susan Cummins, in addition to nine grandchildren: John Fossum, Stephen Fossum, Lauren Fossum, Courtney Holt, Kevin Fossum, Preston Bates, Jerry Brogdon, Jeremy Arthur Bates and Danny Bohler.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2007, 2:00 pm at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Interment will follow the services at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.
