Mary Maldonado (Mere) 80, entered into rest July 5th 2009 in El Paso, Texas. She was born in Morenci, Arizona on June 13th 1929, to Beatrice and Miguel Maldonado.
Mary had two sons, Jesse Joe Maldonado, and Martin (Marty) Maldonado. She had a faithful companion for many years, William C. Sanchez (deseased). She also has eight brothers and sisters; Consuelo Carrasco Ruiz, Veva Arrellin (deseased), Rafael Maldonado, Robert Maldonado (her twin), Arturo Maldonado (Tury), Pedro Maldonado (Pete), Luciano Maldonado (Sonny,deseased), and Manuela Sanchez(Nellie)

Mary lived a long happy and productive life in spite of a spinal injury at the age of nine years old which resulted in her being in and out of hospitals for several years in Globe and Tucson Arizona. She worked at the Safford Greyhound Bus Station, in several of the local Safford Motels, babysitting, as well as in the cotton fields picking and hoeing cotton. It was said that “not very many could beat Mary at picking cotton.” She loved arts and crafts, sewing and especially gardening. Her yard was always immaculate; so much that people driving by her home in San Jose would slow down to take a second look at her beautiful flowers and lush green lawn.

Mary is survived by her two sons Jesse and Martin and two daughters in law Francis and Luz Elvira respectively; two sisters Connie and Nellie, and her brothers Rafael, Beto, Tury, and Pete. Her Grandchildren Leatrice C. Maldonado, Martin J Maldonado, Vanessa K Maldonado, Monica M Maldonado, Jessica Maldonado, Bethany Maldonado, Tara Maldonado, Nicolas Dominguez, Angelic Lopez, Ramon Isaac Avila, Rosa Avila, Brandon Avila and Alex Vasquez. She has twelve Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Safford Funeral Home in Safford Arizona on July 10th 2009. Religious services by: Elder Luis Minjares and FR. Thomas. Mary was laid to rest at the San Jose Cemetery in San Jose, Arizona.
