Lester Andrew Maul

Lester A. Maul crossed over to our Lord on Wednesday, January 26, 2005. He was born Andrew Lester Maul on January 22, 1924 in St. Louis, MO; to Fred and Caroline Maul.

At age 17, he joined the Merchant Marines. He survived two torpedo attacks on merchant ships during WWII. Lester retired after 26 years of service as Master-of-Arms in 1967. After his retirement he worked for the State of New York for 12 years. He married his beloved wife Patricia Matusevich in 1964 and raised three children together.

Lester relocated his family from Central Islip, New York to Lake Havasu City, AZ; in 1979. He was well known for his antics as the comical Day Custodian at Nautilus Elementary School from its opening through 1992, when he retired due to complications from emphysema and asbestos. Lester truly loved his job with the school and enjoyed the lasting friendships he made with the staff.

Lester is survived by his wife of nearly 41 years Patricia; daughters Tanya Maul-Kozlowski of Linfield, PA; Caroline Maul of Glendale, AZ; son Andrew Maul of Pittsburg, PA; grandchildren Roxanne Ogin and Theresa Shingle from PA; Ryan Andrew Maul of Glendale, AZ; nephews Fred Maul and Charles Maul and by his "adopted" brother by Jewish tradition, Carl Gottlieb of Las Vegas, NV. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers LeRoy, Fred, and Charles.

Visitation will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Sunday, January 30, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. with a rosary read at 7:00 pm. Graveside services will be on Monday, January 31, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens with Deacon Gilbert Lopez officiating.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
