G. James McMahon

G. James McMahon died suddenly after a brief illness on September 11, 2002 at Havasu Regional Medical Center in Lake Havasu City, Az. He was born on December 14,1916 in Sioux Falls, SD; to George B. McMahon and Ellen "Hanlon" McMahon.

James graduated from Cathedral High School in Sioux Falls, then attended the South Dakota School of Mines, attended the University of Michigan and also taught there. He began his professional career at Douglass Aircraft in Santa Monica, CA. During WWII he worked for the California Institute of Technology at the United States Navy Research and Development Laboratories in China Lake, CA. After moving to Michigan he worked at Micrometrical Manufacturing in Ann Arbor, MI. He joined Gelman Instruments of Ann Arbor and became company vice president in 1966. He moved his family to Lake Havasu City, Az. in 1971, where he worked at McCulloch until retiring in 1984.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, senior member of the American Society of Tool and Manufacturing Engineers and a member of the American Management Association.

He is survived by his sons, G.Brian McMahon and wife Kathi of Ypsilanti, MI; Kevin J. McMahon and wife Sandra of Ann Arbor, MI; Sean G. McMahon and wife Jenn of Las Vegas, NV; daughters Patricia E. Gunz and husband Robert of Las Vegas, NV; Michelle A. DeShano and husband Paul of Chelsea, MI; Kerry E. Stroup and husband Randy of Lake Havasu City, AZ; Kelly T. McMahon of Lake Havasu City, AZ; 16 grandchildren including Scott M. Stroup of Lake Havasu City, Az and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in by his wife of 55 years Mary Jo McMahan who passed away in March 1999

Visitation will be on Sunday, September 15, 2002 from 6-8 PM at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Rosary will be on Sunday @ 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be on Monday, September 16, 2002 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church with Father Michael Deptula officiating. Reception to follow at Holy Family Perish Center.

Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
