Evy (Maras) Painter

Posted 2009-07-25 by Sharla
Evelyn Maras Painter passed away on October 22, 2007 in Lake Havasu City at the age of 80. Evy, as she was known to her family and friends, was born on July 6, 1927 in Danvers, MN to George and Susan (Gotch) Maras.

Evy and her husband, Rolen moved to Lake Havasu City in 1975 from Maryland where she worked for the U.S. Bureau of Census as Assistant Chief of Cooperation & Control in the electronic data processing department. Evy was a very intelligent business woman, very successful in her career with the government, but due to Rolen's failing health, Evy resigned her position and relocated to Lake Havasu City to provide Rolen the 24 hour care he needed until he passed away in 1987.

While in Lake Havasu City, Evy enjoyed gardening and was very proud of her large vegetable garden. She loved all animals, especially her pet "Peanuts". She was also a very charitable person, often donating to her church, youth groups and other organizations including the Western Arizona Humane Society.

In her later years, Evy became homebound due to health problems, but received assistance provided by many friends. Evy sends her special thanks to DeDe, Marvin, Paulette and her father, Archie. She would also like to thank her doctors, nurses, her many friends who came by to visit and her business associates. Evy enjoyed her home visits from Father Hoorman, Father Rudy and the ministers to the sick from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. In his visits, Father Michael would tell Evy "whatever you do or don't do, God loves you".

Prior to her passing, Evy made this statement, "we are all an important part of each other's lives, please continue to live the Golden Rule, do unto others as you would have them do unto you".

Evy is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, most notably Pete Knutson of Wichita Falls, TX; Suzanna Conkling of Napa, CA; Margaret Ann O'Leary of Minnesota and special friends DeDe Louridas, Paulette Bedsaul and her father Archie.

A visitation will take place Thursday, October 25, 2007, 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Lietz-Fraze Chapel with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be held Friday, October 26, 2007, starting with the Rosary at 12:30 pm, services at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow the services at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Lake Bereavement Luncheon, 1975 Daytona Ave., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403 or Hospice of Havasu, PO Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405 or St. Vincent DePaul's, 1850 Commander, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403 or Western Arizona Humane Society, 1100 Empire Dr., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86404.
